Updating a NetX License File

If you need a license renewal or change, please submit a Support ticket. The NetX Support team with work with our sales and billing departments to ensure that the request is properly attended to. When you receive your new license, follow these instructions on updating the file in your NetX instance:

Windows

  1. Log on as an administrator to your NetX server.
  2. Stop the NetX (Tomcat) service.
  3. Navigate to the the NetX license folder. By default, this folder is located here:  ~\Program Files\NetXposure\netx\license
  4. You will see a .license file inside that folder. Make a backup copy of the existing license just in case, then delete it. Paste the new license file you received into that directory.
  5. Start the NetX service.
  6. Log on to NetX as an administrator and navigate to System > Overview. Scroll down to the License section and validate that the new license has properly taken effect.

Linux

  1. Log on as a user with sudo or root access to the NetX server.
  2. Shut down the Tomcat instance that is running NetX.
  3. Navigate to the NetX license folder. By default, this folder is located here: /opt/netx/netx/license, but that may vary depending on how your installation was performed. Regardless, you will want to find the NetX application directory; the license folder is located inside of it.
  4. You will see a .license file inside that folder. Make a backup copy of the existing license just in case, then delete it. Copy the new license file you received into that directory.
  5. Start Tomcat.
  6. Log on to NetX as an administrator and navigate to System > Overview. Scroll down to the License section and validate that the new license has properly taken effect.
