Creating an Upload Request

The upload request system allows anonymous (non-NetX) users to upload files into a specified folder. Upload request forms can be configured with NetX attributes that can be written to when assets are uploaded using this form. To create or manage an Upload Request, you must have a user level of Manager or above. To learn how to upload assets using an upload request form, see Upload Requests

  1. Folder (required): Use the text input line to choose a folder. Begin typing and choose the proper folder once it appears in the drop-down list.
  2. Notify of assets uploaded: Choose whether or not any user receives a notification of any assets uploaded to NetX via this request form. You can select either a user or a group to be notified of any upload behavior.
  3. Add attribute: Add a new attribute to the form.
  4. Original attribute name: The name of the attribute being written to in this field, as it appears in NetX. To customize the attribute, use the drop-down list to select a custom attribute from the list. The drag icon can be used to reorder attributes on the form.
  5. Custom name: Change the name of the attribute as it will be shown on the final upload request form. This does not affect the actual attribute name in NetX.
  6. Placeholder: Assign a placeholder value to the attribute that will appear on an attribute's input line while using the final upload request form. Note that only texttext areanumber, and date attributes can have placeholders.
  7. Caption: Give the attribute a caption that will appear on the final upload request form. Any attribute type can have a caption.
  8. Required: Determines whether or not an attribute is required when using the upload form. If an attribute is mandatory in NetX, it will be required even if this box is not checked.
  9. Collapse: Collapses the attribute field. This does not remove the attribute from the form, but collapses the pod so that multiple attributes can be easily configured.
  10. Remove attribute: Removes an attribute from the form. Any customizations will not be retained.
  11. Cancel: Closes the form without saving or creating a new request.
  12. Save: Saves the form. This will create a new upload request or save any modifications to an existing form.

Creating an upload request

Upload request uploads are performed using the NetX account that created the form; this user will be recorded as the importer for any uploaded assets. If the form creator's account is set to No Access or deleted, the upload request form will become unusable. To avoid these limitations, we recommend that a generic service account is used when creating upload request forms.

  1. Click the Tools button along the lefthand navigational sidebar and choose Upload requests.
  2. Click the upper-left plus button to begin creating a new request.
  3. Configure your upload request form.
  4. When finished, click Save.
  5. You will be presented with your new URL; either copy it to your clipboard or email it from the application.
