Video clips are segments created from video assets within the NetX application. These clips can be managed, searched, and catalogued with their own clip-specific attributes. To read more on asset details and video preview controls, see our article on asset detail view.
Use caution while versioning or reimporting assets with video clips; if either action is performed on a video, all saved video clips will be deleted.
Creating a video clip
- Sign in as a Producer-level or higher user.
- Navigate to a video's asset detail page.
- Open the Video clip drawer below the video player. Any existing clips will be displayed here.
- Click the New clip+ button. An editing pane will open to the right, allowing you to add attributes to your clip and determine the start/end timestamps within the video.
- Give your clip a Title; this is a required field.
- Give the clip values for its custom attributes; these may be optional or mandatory before saving the clip.
- Use the trim handles to set the clip's start and end points. If you already know the exact timestamps, you can type them into the Start and End fields in the edit pane.
- Click Save to save your clip.
Creating a clip with transcripts
If video transcription is enabled, video clips can be quickly created from dialog timestamps by clicking the segment from the transcription pane.
- Open the transcript pane for the video.
- Scroll to or search for the desired portion of the video.
- Select the transcript portion and open the video clip drawer. The timestamps and Title of the clip are pre-filled with that segment's timestamps and transcription, respectively.
- Make any edits to the clip length, title, or custom attributes.
- Click Save.
Existing video clips
Once a clip is made, it can be edited, downloaded, deleted, or its thumbnail can be used to replace the asset's current thumbnail.
Editing video clips
Clicking a video clip's thumbnail from the video clip drawer reopens the clip editor, allowing you to view or edit its custom attributes, title, and start/end timestamps.
